Eucharistic Miracle Cebrero, Spain 1300

Cebrero is in the North West part of Spain. A holy man lived there who was most dedicated to the Mass and the Eucharist. Also, a priest lived there who had little faith. One bitterly cold, windy morning with snow all over the ground the holy man, Juan Santin, made his way to Mass which was being celebrated by the doubting priest.
At the consecration, when the priest said, “This is My Body” and “This is My Blood”, over the bread and wine, they turned into flesh and blood. Juan was filled with joy at the miracle, and the priest was filled with joy and also sadness at his weak faith.
At that very moment, it seemed that even the head of the wooden statue of the Madonna was leaning in adoration. The people today call her the “Madonna of the Sacred Miracle”. The Lord had wanted to open the eyes of the incredulous priest who had doubted and to compensate the farmer for his great devotion.
When word got out about the miracle people came to the Church in the thousands. The Flesh was left on the paten and the Blood in the Chalice for about 200 years at which time 2 crystal vessels were made for them.
Pope Innocent VIII acknowledged that a miracle had taken place and the miracle can be seen today.
This miracle shows us:- Jesus keeps His promises that He would give us His Flesh to eat and His Blood to drink (John 6:48-59).
- At every Mass, for the last 2,000 years, when the priest says the words of consecration (this is My Body and this is My Blood) the bread and wine are changed into the Body, Blood, Soul, Divinity of Jesus Christ. All Christians believed this miracle happens at Mass for the first 1,500 years until the Protestant Reformation.
- The red blood cells in fresh blood break down over time (24 to 48 hours) without refrigeration.
