A priest, Fr. Peter from Prague, was celebrating Mass at Bolsena which is 70 miles North of Rome. As soon as he said the words of consecration; that is, “This is My Body” over the Host, blood began to drip onto the corporal which is the cloth on the altar, and also onto the marble squares on which he was standing.
At first, he was astonished but then decided to show the corporal to the Pope who happened to be in Orvieto which is close by
When the Pope, Pope Urban IV, saw the blood on the corporal he acknowledged that a miracle had taken place.
The Blood on the marble slabs:
The Blood had spilled onto 4 slabs of marble
Liquid does not usually penetrate marble, but it has been found that the Blood did penetrate this marble.
The marble slabs can be seen today in Bolsena. The color of the Blood on the marble slabs has not changed in 700 years.
Aspects of the Eucharistic Miracle in this blogs are true. Many witnesses saw this miracle when it happened, and these witnesses gave their testimony. The Blood can be seen today on the cloth and the marble even though the miracle happened over 750 years ago. All pointing out to us that Jesus is really present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist.
